This piece answered questions that I have had for a long time regarding my relationship with the female figures in my family. These fabric pieces speak to the idea of my yearning for a connection to those figures in my life. I wanted to create a relationship that didn’t struggle to exist; that I crave. The material speaks for itself. It’s a mixture of my grandmother's fabric, my mom's fabric, and my clothing. What once was theirs is now mine and I am giving it a new purpose. With the use of this material, I am rekindling ties with every stitch I sew. I am using the thread as a metaphor to find a sense of balance between the disconnect that I feel in hopes that it will influence healing and interconnection.
