I never realized the effects Manchac was having on me until I really sat down and thought about it. I realized that every Friday, I was finally able to stop thinking about everything I had to do in my life; I was able to stop and only think about the present nature around me. Being aware of my surroundings, smelling the fresh, humid air, touching the plant life, feeling the wind blow on my face, experience a new environment. All of those aspects I find, at the majority for me, were being overlooked. I had lost sight of such a safe, healing place. We should feel comforted by our presence within it, similar to how some feel when camping. The act of camping gets people away from their crazy, everyday environment; to reconnect with nature and build a stronger relationship with either themselves or the people along with them.
I have created a new type of environment that people can immerse themselves within. An environment of peace and curiosity. A place where one can disconnect from their everyday lives and simply focus on the piece from the inside or outside. A new setting is displayed, one where I ask myself questions. What am I doing with my life? What is my purpose? Where did I come from and when will I return back to this Earth? Bring your baggage to the tent, for it is a place where you can leave those things behind. For me, I get taken back to a place in my childhood where I had no worries or shame; I was not afraid to be curious. This tent acts as shelter protecting what was there while simultaneously keeping the present close. The tent is a grounding environment where I can return to. The tent is a place I can trust in parallel to nature.
